Sunday ride, seaside picnic

Our first Sunday ride brought together neighbours, newcomers, friends and families for an easy loop through East Coast Park. Some people arrived knowing half the group; others knew no one at all.

An easy pace, on purpose

We made two pace groups and kept the route friendly for children and occasional cyclists. The point was never speed. It was having enough time to talk, change riding partners and notice who might need a hand.

At the finish we spread fruit, sandwiches and home-made snacks across a long picnic table by the sea. No speeches and no business cards—just coconuts, stories and plenty of plans for the next outing.

What we learned

A clear meeting point, a short safety briefing and a shared destination are enough to turn a simple ride into a real community event. Next time we will add a shorter children’s loop and invite two volunteer ride marshals.
